This photo dating to World War I shows the Ex-Crown Prince Wilhelm of Germany. He was the eldest son of the last German Kaiser (Wilhelm II). He was the last cown prince of the German Empire and the Kingdom of Prussia. He lost the title of Crown Prince with the fall of the empire on November 5, 1918. Upon the death of his father he became the Crown Prince of Hollenzollern and retained the title until he died in 1951.  ©Newagin Archives / The Image Works

Erich Ludendorff was a German general and was vitorious in the Battle of Liege and Battle of Tannenberg. He and Hindenberg led the war efforts of the First World War, but the failure of the Spring Offensive in 1918 led to his ousting later that year. Paul von Hindenburg commanded the German military during the second half of World War I and, in 1925, was elected President of the Weimar Republic. He appointed Adolf Hitler chancellor in 1933.
