In 1914, following the declaration of war, the French newspaper Excelsior recruited photographers and published more than 20 photographs a day. These newly digitized images have not been seen for nearly 100 years. Exclusively from our French affiliate Roger-Viollet. Click on a thumbnail image for preview and caption.
